NWP Electrical & Mechanical were awarded the opportunity to undertake the redevelopment of the iconic Birmingham Central Fire Station, a grade II listed building alongside main contractor Watkin Jones. The Station originally opened in 1935 and was in use until a new purpose built station was constructed in 2009. The redevelopment saw the 3 segments of the station converted into 483 student bedrooms which included 8 studios within the drill tower for Aston University. In addition to the redevelopment Watkin Jones were successful in obtaining planning permission to utilise the former training courtyard site and constructed a new 6 storey student block. NWP completed all design, procurement, installation, testing & commissioning by August 2015.
